Our Story

I decided I wanted to be an accountant during my senior seminar class in high school in Southern Colorado. I was always curious about what made businesses tick, and accounting seemed like the key to understanding that.

I went on to enroll in the business program at Colorado State University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Corporate Finance. Shortly after graduation, I began my career as the Director of Accounting for a custom home builder on Kauai, HI. Eventually, I found my way back to Colorado, and over the past decade, I’ve managed the books for contractors, property managers, vacation rentals, plumbers, electricians, and restaurants. Along the way, I also helped underwrite several real estate development projects.

Business school taught me how to read and understand financial statements, but it was the business owners I worked with who taught me what it really means to run a business. They were the ones who took an idea and turned it into something real—who understood customer service, problem-solving, and how to take care of their employees. Without them, there would be no numbers to account for.

That being said, many of these owners were so busy building and running their businesses that the financials often took a back seat.

In 2024, I created Blue Spruce Bookkeeping to support those entrepreneurs—the ones who know how to run a business but don’t have the time or desire to keep the books in order.

Hiring a full-time accounting staff can be expensive. Our goal at Blue Spruce Bookkeeping is to provide small businesses and entrepreneurs with a cost-effective solution that doesn’t compromise on quality.
